Moth Control Scotland
The adult Clothes Moth is generally small and can be very shy (completing its full life cycle in a cupboard is common) They are usually a light brown or golden with a silvery sheen.
The head is rather roughly haired, with the proboscis (or feeding-tube) reduced or absent altogether. Hence, the adult insects do not feed and it is their larvae that damage our fabrics and fibres.
Clothes/ Carpet Moth treatments can be extremely complex and professional control is complicated as many factors need to be considered prior to application.
Habitat
- Found in dark places such as under and in gaps between furniture, in cracks around rooms and between floorboards
- The main foodstuffs of the larvae are Keratin (contained in wool, hair, feathers and fur) with irregular holes found in clothing and carpets often being the first indication that an infestation has occurred or is currently present
- As with other species of beetle, bird, rodent and insect nests are often potential 'homes'

Moth Infestations need Professional Treatments
Our systematic treatment plan has been developed to coincide with the metamorphosis life-cycle of the Moth.
Our structured programs eradicate the Moth in all it's life stages.
Moths
Moths do not cause any health risks but are a pest in homes and businesses because of the severe damage their larvae cause to clothes, fabrics, furs, leather and carpets.
This damage may continue for many weeks after moth larvae have hatched serious harm may have been done before numbers of flying moths are seen and so prevention of a moth problem is important.
Our Moth Treatment Explained
Repellents and deterrents when a moth infestation is already present is pointless and it is imperative that there is a zero count of insects before these can work effectively.
Treatments for Moths vary according to what they are feeding on and the infestation rate. Fumigation, Smoke Generators, Spraying using various Insecticides are some of the options we consider.
Moth eggs are non-porous and so we require the use of residual insecticides to be applied in and around egg sites. This provides a layer of active insecticide able to eradicate any emerging larvae.
This process is repeated to ensure we are able to attack the following generation, ensuring we eradicate larvae capable of turning into adults and then breeding. Treatments in the winter and cooler months are staged slightly further apart as incubation periods are slowed down.
